Newport, Kentucky to Rockville Centre, NY

Mike and Josh, DJs. Lounging around in the smelly gut of the Southgate House in Newport. My favorite photo from the trip so far:

The Southgate House, Newport Kentucky. Full of history, and mold. Not full of people:

Poker (Jesse took this photo.)

Nice band names. This sign is extremely indicative of many things.

Burgers in Newport. "Chain Gang" on the jukebox.

Josh alternately sad about Kentucky swastikas and happy about Hope graffiti:

This sign combo seems very foreboding:

Driving through Pennsylvannia:

Tamaqua, Pennsylvannia is an old coal mining town where Jesse's dad grew up. We went to the old graveyard trying to find his grandparent's graves. It was pitch black and we wandered the plots with flashlights; we found some of his close relatives but no coal-mining Hoys. It was peaceful but scary; no moon; crows barking in the trees, surrounded by thick Pennsylvania woods and old, old coal miner's houses with a light on here and there.

Finally. The other coast.

GW Bridge!

Tonight we're sleeping at Mike's mom's house in Rockville Centre, Long Island. Jason is meeting up with us in the morning, and we're heading for the city. 3pm, our first CMJ show at Piano's. Good night...
